A more definitive decorated chess set would be hard to find than this superbly crafted masterpiece. Our designers, by combining their skills with the styles of Staunton and the old French Dieppe sets, have created one of our most attractive sets. Two armies from the late twelfth century face off against each other, their heroic leader is Richard, King of England, also known as Richard the Lionheart. This regal chess set features important characters from the era of Richard I, who reigned from 1189-1199.
